Distribution of school books and essential kits to the students of Gawali village

One of the villages adopted by Lok Kalp Foundation is Gawali village which is situated 30 km from Khanapur. The roads are treacherous and very difficult during the monsoons. The village is surrounded by lush green forest and many small waterfalls. The vehicle we were traveling with the goods could not go any further so we had to stop our vehicle 5 km away from the village.
The villagers absolutely have no means of coming out of the village once the monsoon starts. Even though the village has a population of around 300 people there is hardly anyone staying there as all the young crowd has moved to nearly by the city for jobs. Old grandparents and children are the ones who are left behind in the villages.
We had to carry the items to be distributed to the children and reach our destination.
The village school has classes only up to 7th Std and children have to travel to Khanapur for further studies, thus many of these children don’t pursue education after 7th Std. The school has 28 students. The school is very well maintained and proper progress record of every student is kept. The school’s Head Master Shri. Shamrao Jadhav and Co-Teacher Shri. Kishorkumar Shitole has to be appreciated for bringing new ideas into their curriculum and making every bit of effort to help the children of this village.
Lok Kalp Foundation distributed school books and essential kits to the students. The event was attended by Lok Kalp staff & Volunteers, Shri. B. A. Desai (C.R.P Shiroli), Shri. Santosh Gaonkar (Chairman SDMC Gawali), Mrs. Sanjana Gaonkar (Gram Panchayat Member Nersa Village..
