Lok Kalp is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program by Lokmanya Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited. It is an initiative by Shri Kiran D Thakur, founder chairman Lokmanya Society, Advisory Chief of Tarun Bharat Daily Belgaum, to create lasting changes in the lives of the people of the villages. The Foundation operates with the single minded focus empowering rural India. Our vision is rural empowerment through best practices, modern technology and values. We have adopted 32 villages near Kanakumbi and jamboti areas which are situated in thick forests of Khanapur. Lokmanya multipurpose co-op society was formed in 1995 under the dynamic leadership of Shri. Kiran Baburao Thakur along with his like-minded associates. The main motto was to provide financial help to budding entrepreneurs, homemakers to start their own businesses and to give employment to local citizens. During one of the visit to the villages Shri Kiran D Thakur had an opportunity to interact with young girl students of Jamboti where he realized the need of giving basic education to these school children. Since it is in remote jungle area, not a single pre university collage was established here. So he started the Baburao Thakur junior college of arts and commerce in Jamboti in the year 2020. He also realized that the villagers were deprived of basic Infrastructure facilities and the idea of adopting these villages clicked his mind.
